About Trait emotional intelligence questionnaire
Petrides (2009) designed a trait emotional intelligence questionnaire short form TEIQUE-SF to yield primarily global trait emotional intelligence score which derived from the full form of the trait emotional questionnaire, covering fifteen distinctive facets of personality. It is a self-report scale containing 30 questions and takes 5-10 minutes to complete. It is a 7-point Likert scale.
The scale comprises four subscales first self-control which comprised of items 4, 7, 15, 19. 22, 30 second emotionality containing items l.2, 8, 13,16, 17, 23, 28 then sociability having items 6. 10,1121, 25 ,26 and well-being consisting items 5,9, 12, 20, 24 and 27. The global trait emotional intelligence score is obtained by adding up the item scores and dividing them by the total number of items. There were 14 items in the questionnaire which were scored reverse.
The author was approached to get permission for using his measure in this study. According to the author, the TEIQUE-SF has a good reliability with a Cronbach alpha reported of 88.111 the present study Cronbach alpha coefficient was .729 that shows good internal consistency too.
