About Earthquake Experience Questionnaire
This 54-item form had 3 subsections. The first section addressed demographics and the participant’s past traumas, psychiatric history, and reason for having been in the earthquake areas during the earthquakes, and the number of visits to the earthquake areas after the earthquakes.
The second section pertained to the respondent’s experience regarding the earthquakes and included questions about where he or she was during the earthquakes, which earthquakes he or she experienced, whether he or she got stuck under the rubble, loss of life of friends or family members, injuries sustained, fear during the earthquake, and other potentially distressing experiences such as having seen mutilated bodies or bodies under the rubble, having participated in rescue efforts, etc.
The last section addressed the loss of resources; changes in social support from close relatives, friends, and family members; and the quality of social interactions. Pre-earthquake and post-earthquake income, losses in various areas, unemployment, and the extent of change in the participant’s social network were also assessed in that section.
