About Balanced Inventory of Desirable Responding
The BIDR measures a respondent’s tendency to distort his/her self-report responses in order to reflect socially desirable responses rather than accurate answers about the self. The BIDR has two, 20-item scales: self-deceptive enhancement (SDE) assesses nondeliberate socially desirable responses, where the respondent, in fact, believes the desirable responses are accurate self-reports, whereas impression management (IM) assesses socially desirable responding, where the respondent knows the responses are deliberately inaccurate.
