About Awareness of National Mental Health Legislation

An interdisciplinary group including a lawyer, judge, psychiatrist, and psychologist, with each member having a minimum of 5 years experience in their respective field and a comprehensive understanding of the Government of Pakistan, (2001) designed a 22 item paper-based questionnaire based on the Government of Pakistan, (2001). It comprised 8 open-ended (participants responded in an open text format) and 14 close-ended (“yes”, “no”, don’t know”) items to assess stakeholders’ awareness of the MHO.
Responses on open-ended items were further rated independently by two members (lawyers and psychologists) of the same interdisciplinary group with ratings ranging from 0 (Completely incorrect response) to 4 (completely correct response). Good inter-rater reliability metrics were demonstrated (r = 0.78, p <0.01). Extensive piloting of the questionnaire was undertaken to ascertain the relevance and comprehension of each item prior to finalizing the ANMHL.
