About The Mental Adjustment to HIV Scale
The full scale is composed of 38 items with a four-point Likert-type scale format. This scale was adapted from the Mental Adjustment to Cancer Scale to measure coping strategies for HIV-positive people. There are five factors that compose the scale. The Fatalism-Preoccupation scale was used, which has been shown to have a Cronbach alpha of .55 (Ross & Hunter, 1994). The six items for the Mental Adjustment to HIV Scale appear as items 134 to 139 in Table 2.
