About Ok-Religious Attitude Scale
The Ok-Religious Attitude Scale was developed by Üzeyir Ok in 2016. He tried to adopt the measurement of attitudes as used by Leslie J Francis in the Francis Scale of Attitude toward Christianity (FSAC) (Francis, 1987). He built this scale on the presumption that attitude predicts behavior. However, his presumption has limitations because the prediction of religious behavior from the religious attitude hasn’t been so fruitful. Researchers could find just a moderate relationship between positive attitude to religion and church attendance (Myers, 1990). Ok mentions the limitations of the attitude approach, but he also claims that this approach is better than the other approaches (belief approach, practice approach, religious affiliation approach). This scale also doesn’t deal with the problem of social desirability. When working in a country where social expectations about religion are very high and the tolerance level regarding religion is low, social desirability would corrupt the data.
