About Multidimensional Global Belief in a Just World Scale
This scale is designed to measure the belief that people get what they deserve and deserve what they get. The scale is composed of 30 items. The respondent is instructed to rate how much he or she agrees with each statement on a 6-point Likert- type scale. The measure is divided in three parts. A factor analysis showed that 7 of the 30 items loaded in a common factor that was named Fatalism (Lipkus, 1991). These 7 items are the ones used for the analysis. The reliability of the entire scale (Cronbach’s alpha) is .633 (Lipkus, 1991). No reliability is reported specifically for the fatalism factor. The seven items for the Multidimensional Global Belief in a Just World Scale appear as items 109 to 115 in Table 2.
