About Interpersonal Judgment Scale

The Interpersonal Judgment Scale (IJS; Byrne, 1971) is a six-item measure to assess liking or attraction (general liking as opposed to romantic attraction) to an individual. Each item was scored from 1 to 7, with higher scores indicating more favorable impressions; the score for the measure was the average of the scores from the six items. Each item required participants to choose one statement, out of seven, that best represented what they thought of the target person on each of the following dimensions: 1) Intelligence, 2) Knowledge of current events, 3) Morality, 4) Adjustment, 5) Personal feelings, and 6) Desire to work together in an experiment.
