About Figure Rating Scale

The Figure Rating Scale (Stunkard et al., 1983) was used to establish the concurrent validity of the BDS. The tool is based on figures and was considered to be culturally fair. It was used to further check the validity of the scale developed in this study. It consisted of 9 figures (separate figures for males and females), ranging from very thin to very large, was used to assess the degree of body dissatisfaction experienced by an individual. The participant was asked to choose the figure that they felt like that they had and the one they wanted to look like. The discrepancy between the two was used as an indicator of body dissatisfaction.
