About COVID Stress Scale

The COVID Stress Scale developed and validated by Taylor and others (2020) was translated by investigators and checked for reliability. The Cronbach alpha of this translated version was .87 which was acceptable as above .70 is considered adequate. The CSS was used to measure COVID related stress that was purposefully invented to measure pandemic related stresses in future as well (Taylor et al., 2020). The scale was validated initially on the sample of 3479 Canadians and 3375 Americans. It consists of 5 sub-scales, (1) Danger and contamination fears, (2) fears about economic consequences, (3) xenophobia, (4) compulsive checking and reassurance-seeking, and (5) traumatic stress symptoms about COVID-19. Before using in this study, the internal consistency of the scale was tested using Cronbach Alpha.
