About Attitude towards National Mental Health Legislation
A brief five-item questionnaire was developed by the same interdisciplinary group to assess attitudes of stakeholders towards the MHO (aspects related to legal capacity) including the provision of leave/ discharge solely on psychiatrist recommendation, competency of the patient to enter a legal contract, guardianship, diversion of patients’ from the prison system based on mental incapacity and involuntary admission. Agreement with statements was based on a five-point Likert scale ranging from 0 (Strongly Disagree) to 4 (Strongly Agree). Questions for both questionnaires were phrased in such a way so that the same questions could be answered by the different stakeholders despite their different professional roles and experiences. Pilot data was gathered on the questionnaire prior to utilizing it in the study
