Background/Description
The NOTECHS Behavioral Marker System is a tool developed by The JARTEL group to assess the non-technical skills of individual pilots, including leadership, decision-making, teamwork, and situation awareness. The goal was to create a feasible and efficient method for evaluating these important skills that can greatly impact aviation safety.
After reviewing existing behavioral rating systems, the NOTECHS system was designed with four categories, each containing specific elements of behaviors. NOTECHS was created as a professional pragmatic tool for use by instructors and authorized examiners, and is intended to be used by non-psychologists in common aviation language. Its primary purpose is to provide feedback to pilots on their skills and identify areas for improvement in order to enhance overall aviation safety.
