Tablets are available in the following doses:

  • 5mg
  • 5mg
  • 10mg
  • 15mg

Disorder to treat

It is used for the treatment of the following disorder.

Administration of medicine in different Age groups 

Administration of medicine in different age groups is as follows:

Adults

  • Orally 10-15 mg per day in a divided dose every 8-12hr. It may increase every 2-3 days from 5 mg per day to 15-30 mg per day orally in a divided dose every 8-12hrs.it may not exceed 60 mg per day.

Pre-adolescent

In pre-adolescent, it is used to treat Generalized anxiety disorder.

  • Pre-adolescent: 2.5-5 mg orally every day. It may increase the dose by 2.5 mg every 3-4 days. It should not exceed 20 mg per day.

Adolescents

  • Orally 5-10 mg per day is given. It may increase by 5 mg per day at weekly PRN intervals. It should not to exceed 60 mg per day is divided every 8-12hr.

Contraindications

There are the following contraindications of buspirone:

  • Hypersensitivity

Cautions

  • Do not use PRN for anxiety.
  • Will not prevent withdrawal from other anxiolytics, such as a benzodiazepine.
  • May cause cognitive-motor impairment.
  • Restlessness syndrome associated with therapy.
  • Use in severe renal/hepatic impairment is not recommended.
  • Use with MAO inhibitors may result in hypertensive reactions (use not recommended).
