Partial reinforcement is reinforcing an organism only sometimes and not every time the desired behavior occurs. Think of trying to teach your dog to sit. Will he learn to sit faster if you reward the dog every single time he sits when you tell him to or if you reward him only sometimes? Of course, he will learn to sit slower using this partial
reinforcement approach.
