About The Early Adolescent Temperament Questionnaire
This scale is the revised and shortened version of the Early Adolescent Temperament Questionnaire (EATQ), developed by Capaldi and Rothbart (1992). It contains 65 items that are designed to assess ten components of temperament, with an additional two psychosocial behavioural scales (i.e. aggression and depressive mood). Following exploratory factor analysis of the ten temperament components, four factors were revealed. These are Effortful Control, Surgency, Affiliation and Negative Affectivity. The EATQ-R-SF has demonstrated good internal reliability, with alpha levels ranging from .65 to .82. Full details of the subscales have been summarised in Appendix 2.
