About Rotter’s Internal and External Locus of Control Scale

The scale consists of 23 item pairs using a forced-choice format. It has six filler questions. It has a consistency coefficient (Kuder-Richardson) of .70 in a sample of 400 college students (Rotter, 1966). It has a test-retest reliability of .72 after one month in a sample of 60 college students (Rotter, 1966). This scale is self-administered and can be completed in 15 minutes. It was administered using a seven-point Likert-type scale for purposes of this study.  The 23 item pairs for the Rotter’s scale appear as items 1, 2, 273, 275, 4-10, and 12- 46 in Table 2.
