The role
Northampton Academy requires an enthusiastic, committed, and outstanding counsellor to join our Wellbeing team. The school counsellor will play a vital role in supporting our students who require additional support in order to reach their full potential. The role of the counsellor will be a pivotal one in the coming months following the current COVID-19 crisis the country is experiencing.
This is a rewarding, yet demanding role, and the successful candidate will work closely with students, staff, and parents in order to support our high expectations.
About You
You should have the ability to remain calm in difficult situations, be resilient, and demonstrate energy and drive. Furthermore, the successful candidate will have excellent verbal communication skills and an awareness of the importance of inclusion for children. You will be excellent at multi-tasking, often handling heavy caseloads.
You will be part of our Wellbeing team that consists of an EHA co-ordinator and Wellbeing Support Manager and, due to the nature of the role, it is likely some flexibility will be required.
United Learning
Northampton Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer life-changing education to children and young people across England. Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum, and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.
As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff’s wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing program. It’s an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
